The term
cellulite, when used in the presence of
women, often results in a response somewhere
between disgust and dismay, as the appearance
of cellulite can be embarrassing and
unsightly.
Most women carry excess fat in their thighs and
buttocks, but this condition is not confined
just to the overweight as it is in reality, a
lumpy substance that looks more like cottage
cheese that forms beneath the skin, even in
women (and men, to a lesser extent) who are
otherwise fit.
The fats just
below the skin surface push against the tissue
which results in the skin surface having that
dimpled look common of celulite.
In reality, nobody knows the real reason why
some people accumulate these fats and not
others, but there are some factors that health
experts are considering such as the structure
of the fat cells or toxins that enter the
body.
What is certain
though is that the older you become the greater
the likelihood of this type of cell forming as
the elastin and collagen, that help stop aging
lines, becomes less effective.
It is classified as a hormonal imbalance
experienced by women and seldom appears on
males as normally male fat stored in the thighs
and buttock is the same as fat stored all over
the body so no difference is
observed.
The presence of
celulite is not always prominent, unless one
tries to pinch the upper skin of one's thigh;
should it feel lumpy then you most certainly
have it but a woman should not feel bad about
having it, since most have this condition to a
certain degree.
Many factors
can influence the buildup; ranging from the sex
of the person to their age, genetic make-up,
skin type and skin thickness, all have a part
to play in its formation.
One thing for
sure is that technology has not as yet devised
a miracle potion or treatment that can
eradicate it completely. One method that hides
the cellulite quite well by puffing the skin is
deep massage and an increasing number of
clinics are now offering this
therapy.
Liposuction is
sometimes used to remove fats generally from
the body and can be attempted for this
condition as well but the use of drugs injected
into the cells to remove it is costly and out
of reach for most women.
However, these are only temporary measures and
do not provide permanent relief and liposuction
is really only efficient for deeper based fats
and not those close to the surface like
cellulite. Click
